Privacy Policy
Effective Date: [7/15/25]
Ghost Writer (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a browser-based writing tool designed to help students refine and rewrite content inside platforms such as Google Docs. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you interact with our service. By using Ghost Writer, you agree to the terms outlined here.
We may collect information in several categories. When you submit text into our tool, we process that input, generate humanized output, and may temporarily store both for the duration of your session. Detector scores or flags may be generated to help assess the AI-likelihood of the content. If you adjust settings such as rewrite strength or tone, we also record those selections. Additionally, we gather anonymized usage data, including the frequency of rewrites, typing emulator events, loop counts during validation, and timestamps. We may also collect non-identifiable technical data, including your browser type, extension version, IP address (which may be truncated), and anonymized device fingerprints for basic analytics and performance monitoring.
If you choose to register or subscribe, we may collect optional account data, such as an email address and subscription status. All payment information, if applicable, is handled by third-party payment processors and never stored directly by us. Your local settings or rewrite history may be stored in your browser or synced securely with our database.
We use the information we collect to operate the rewrite engine, improve the detection-avoidance system, enable the typing emulator, optimize user experience, and ensure service security. Input data helps us refine performance and detect patterns that might compromise undetectability. Logs are used to monitor system health and prevent misuse. We do not sell or share user data with advertisers or unrelated third parties.
Rewrite content is typically cached for no longer than 24 hours during processing. Cached or saved sessions are stored either in the browser or on our servers in encrypted format. Users may request deletion of all stored content at any time. While no system can offer perfect security, we use industry-standard protections, including encrypted HTTPS communication, database encryption, access control protocols, and request throttling to safeguard your data.
In some cases, we rely on third-party services to support key features. These may include rewriting providers such as OpenAI or Anthropic, detector APIs such as GPTZero or Originality.ai, and payment services such as Stripe. Where applicable, these services operate under their own privacy policies. We do not transmit personally identifiable information to these services unless absolutely necessary for requested functionality.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may be entitled to access, modify, delete, or export your personal data. Users in the European Union are protected under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), while those in California are covered by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). You may contact us at any time to submit a request regarding your data.
Ghost Writer is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under this age threshold. If we become aware that we have received such data in error, we will delete it immediately. Users must confirm that they are 13 or older before using our service.
We do not use cookies for behavioral advertising or third-party tracking. We may, however, use temporary cookies or local storage to manage sessions, rewrite settings, and performance metrics during your use of the tool.
We retain data only as long as necessary to provide the service. Session data and logs may be kept for up to 30 days in anonymized form for debugging and analytics. Optional account or preference data may be retained until deletion is requested by the user.
This policy may be updated periodically. If we make any material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this document and notify users as required. Continued use of Ghost Writer after such changes constitutes your agreement to the updated policy.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or would like to make a data request, please contact us at management@ghostwriterv3.com. If applicable, our Data Protection Officer will respond to any formal inquiries related to your rights under privacy law.

AI Use Disclaimer
Ghost Writer is an AI-powered writing tool developed to support students, creators, and independent thinkers in refining and rewriting their work with greater control, originality, and personalization. While our technology integrates advanced language models and algorithmic tools to help rephrase and restructure AI-generated content, we do not endorse or support any use of the platform for dishonest, deceptive, or unethical purposes.
Ghost Writer is not a tool for cheating. It is not intended to allow users to misrepresent authorship, plagiarize material, or bypass academic integrity systems. Our goal is to help users better understand and take ownership of their written work — especially in a digital environment where AI detection tools are often unreliable, overly aggressive, or unfair to students who use legitimate writing assistance tools.
Users of Ghost Writer are solely responsible for how they apply the output produced by the system. We strongly discourage submitting rewritten content without reviewing, revising, or contextualizing it, especially in academic, institutional, or professional settings where original work is required. We recommend that Ghost Writer be used for editing, improving tone and clarity, and learning how to write more effectively — not for submitting work that misrepresents effort or authorship.
To protect both users and the integrity of the service, Ghost Writer includes intentional disclaimers, age requirements, and terms that prohibit academic misconduct. Continued use of the platform indicates acknowledgment and acceptance of this policy. If a user knowingly uses Ghost Writer to violate institutional guidelines, that responsibility rests solely with the user, not with Ghost Writer or its creators.
By accessing this tool, you affirm that you understand the ethical boundaries surrounding academic and professional writing, and agree to use Ghost Writer only in ways that respect those standards.
